NATIONAL SUICIDE

There have been terrible periods in the past when evil has seemed to have won; entire epochs when mankind has been bowed and bloodied by the tyranny of malign forces. At such times, first England, then - later - the United Kingdom, has shone forth as a beacon of hope for freedom loving people everywhere. Thus it was during the darkest days of the 2nd world war, when for over two years, Britain and her overseas dominions and colonies stood alone against Germany, and the remnants of free peoples from across Europe were fleeing to Britain, to re-organise and take up the fight again.

Never before, however, have groupings of wicked people had access to such advanced technology, or such overwhelming control of the mainstream media in Britain, as they do today. The voice of the moral savant in Britain is drowned out; his insights and guidance ignored. In this age, unlike any that has gone before, we observe humanity’s moral and spiritual degradation as it embraces entire regions, a degradation made possible by the cunning of those who control global technological advances.

It has always been Britain’s role to be at the forefront of the great political, social, industrial, cultural, and economic developments that have swept the world, altering and advancing mankind’s consciousness, bringing region after region into a global family in which common values and aspirations became increasingly universal. Historically, Britain, more than any other nation, has changed the entire world. Thus it was that we once led the world in the march towards liberty - a recognition of human dignity and individual worth, a guarantee of equality before the law - coupled with seemingly infinite possibilities of material advance, stemming from our leadership of the industrial revolution; advances which would benefit generations to come.

Through the course of our history we arrived at a synthesis of two diametrically opposed understandings of liberty: the first of which was that there were to be no limits imposed upon the individual’s right to think, speak and write what he chose (subject to the limitations of the laws of slander, libel and sedition). These freedoms of thought and expression were buttressed by the absolute sanctity of his person and property, regardless of his station in life. The second of these ideas was that each person is bound to take personal responsibility for his actions, considering not only their potential consequences for himself and his immediate family, but upon society at large, and it was these considerations which in practice held anarchy at bay, uniting different social groups in their mutual striving towards the achievement of a uniquely cohesive and compassionate society, where each one of us, no matter our social class or economic status, recognized his fellow’s shared humanity. Implicit within this shared humanity was a moral and ethical belief system held in common that stemmed from our shared Christian beliefs. We were, until fairly recent times, a deeply, devoutly Christian country.

We British family became in the process a people who had resolved the inherent paradox of our own national temperament: on the one hand, our propensity for periodic bouts of savage violence (how good we have always been, when pushed to it, at waging war!), and on the other, expressing an altruistic concern for others, extending even - almost uniquely among human cultures - to the animal kingdom.

The terrible irony is that the evolution of this tolerant and altruistic strand of our national consciousness has brought us to the point where we, the British people, are facing an ever greater threat to our cultural, social (and even, in the long term), racial survival. Since 2001 the population of Britain has increased by 8 million; 7 million of this increase were made up of other than ethnic white British. Groupings other than ethnic white British now account for 21% of the total population of 67 million in Britain - up from 10% in 2001. During the same period, “white British” as a share of the population of Britain has declined by 10%, from 89% in 2001 to 79% in 2021. (Figures supplied by Migration Watch UK). Even the most optimistic figures based on a study of current demographic trends in Britain, indicate that the ethnic white Briton is certain to become a minority within his own land within the next 50 years. White British toddlers today are very likely to have become an ethnic minority in Britain by the time they reach middle age.

What had become a typically British tolerance of immigrants and outsiders (even if this tolerance is historically of relatively recent vintage) has been reinforced by a philosophy of justice and fair play (concepts which reach back much further in our national history), and we have applied this philosophy to ever greater effect during the last fifty or sixty years to immigrants and newcomers to Britain. We have tolerated their alien cultures; we have tried not to make them feel in any sense lesser than ourselves. However, within the last five or six decades, this gentle face of the British national temperament has been exploited by a malign liberal-progressive coterie, to have become the poisonous political correctness of today. (Only within the last five years or so has this political correctness acquired the blanket designation, “Woke.”)

“Woke” would have us place the values and cultures of alien newcomers and their offspring over our own national values and culture; it would have us apologise constantly for the historical fact of the British empire; it would have us negate and even condemn as non-existent the tremendous influence for good we have had over the world’s peoples. Degenerate left-wingers and liberal-progressives have made this national apologia into a twisted philosophy of middle class guilt, in which by extension, we native British - our history, our institutions, our culture and our society - are portrayed as fundamentally flawed, and thus we are obliged to efface ourselves in the face of alien cultures and societies which have taken uninvited root in our land.

In this fashion our national character has been exploited by liberal-progressives and the left-wing over the last fifty or sixty years, used as a weapon against ourselves, and today it is being used by those of our fellows who hate Britain and who hate the British people: their aim is to bring about the erosion of our culture and society, and ultimately, the swamping of the native white British population by immigrant groups who are fast out-breeding us, and whose cultures and beliefs are utterly at odds with our own.

The “woke” middle class in particular in Britain has been indoctrinated with political correctness to such a degree that they are scared (those who think about our future viability as a people and a society at all) to speak out against multiculturalism, diversity and high immigration numbers; scared to state the obvious and declare that many of these alien incomers’ cultures are morally inferior to our own and pose a threat to our national values. The “woke” middle class does not dare to lament the erosion of our native culture, nor to deplore the wholescale displacement of entire communities of British people by malign alien cultures. We dare not express even a purely personal dislike of someone of another race or ethnic group, for fear of being labeled a “racist”. If we are labelled as “racist” we run the risk of being prosecuted in the courts under a host of race and hate-crime laws. The Law itself now obliges us to admire and surrender to the very people who threaten in the long term to displace us within our own country.

For the most part, the white British working class develops no coherent or rational views by means of which it can articulate its anger - for anger is what much of the white British working class feels: this anger is visceral, inarticulate, irrational, expressed (if expressed at all, for the white British working class has had its collective consciousness gutted, and is today so lacking in group solidarity that it is no longer a clear and vibrant force within society) expressed, as I say, as an incoherent anger not only against immigrants (who are seen as displacing white Britons from their neighbourhoods, undercutting their wages, and stealing their jobs and their housing), but against the entire British political establishment. This explains a growing disinclination to participate in the farce that is our so-called democracy, with voter turn-out numbers during elections reaching all-time lows.

However, this inarticulate, disorganized anger is today being exploited by political chancers who act as sounding chambers for the people’s anger, as mirrors held up to magnify their prejudices: such political chancers are collectively termed “populists.” And one such populist group (Nigel Farage’s Reform UK) now looks very likely to win the next general election in Britain. Many of those who support Reform UK do so on the grounds that for years they voted Labour (or Tory) - and see where this has got them!

Yet, do we deserve any better? Margaret Thatcher’s economic revolution (in which we replaced manufacturing with a service economy) was also a social revolution. She did not in fact declare, “There is no such thing as society,” but she might as well have done so: hand in hand with the promotion by every government, since Thatcher first came to power, of unrestrained consumerism, the teaching of moral restraint and self control has been abandoned, and social obligations are mocked. We have become a grasping, greedy, selfish, callous, highly individualistic people, seeking constantly for immediate gratification and sensual pleasure, no matter the cost to society at large. What was traditionally a particularly British sense of individual worth has been perverted by evil educators and a quisling media to have become a celebration of everything that is selfish and base, to the complete exclusion of any sense of moral restraint or communal or social obligation. Even compassion for our fellows in need, a once vibrant trait of our national consciousness, under constant attack by almost every British government since that of Thatcher, is near extinct now.

We have abandoned our sense of personal morality, become a nation of libertines, made ignorant by inadequate education, and, encouraged by our governments, ever lusting after material acquisitions (the majority of which are now manufactured in the far east, with the Chinese economy its major beneficiary), and in the process, running up one of the highest levels of personal debt in Europe. We no longer share a cohesive national belief system underpinned by Christian ethics and morality; there are almost no moral restraints upon our personal behaviour; we fear and are inhibited only by the restraints imposed on us via the plethora of race and hate laws introduced by successive governments. Every man has become an island in Britain, alienated as much from his own self as from his community and country.

And how well this suits those among the left-wing and the liberal-progressives who hate Britain and the British people. They have succeeded in suborning us: bereft of ideals, robbed of a coherent national belief system, willing participants in the degradation of our spiritual identities through participation in the insatiable national quest for material and sensual gratification (a quest in which we are encouraged by the media and by government itself);  crippled by a perverted sense of “fair play”, which sees us co-operate in the overwhelming of our race by alien cultures now firmly planted in our midst; spurning for the most part those moral values and belief system which identified us communally as a nation - values and beliefs which were once inculcated in us by our adherence to the Christian faith, and made manifest via traditional methods of education now mocked as paternalistic and old fashioned - bereft of all these positive values and national characteristics, we are racing towards individual degeneracy, and national suicide.

First we participate in the erosion of our culture and our traditional values by signing up to that perversion of the national consciousness known as political correctness; then we learn how to apologise for our national history, and to seek the forgiveness of those who not long ago were our pupils in matters of ethics and morality, and who owe their very existence as sovereign independent states to our magnanimity; finally, we collude in the slow degradation of our individuality and our spiritual personae, through our eagerness to participate in the corporatists’ delusional paradise of materialism and consumerism - a paradise devoid of spiritual truths, but promising instant material and sensual gratification.

Do not be fooled by the establishment’s faux concerns to tackle the issues of a discredited multiculturalism and unlimited immigration. The so-called “debate” (was there ever so misused a word as “debate”?) now taking place in the mainstream media and within government is nothing but a smokescreen for a concerted effort by the establishment and its agencies to side-line what it sees as a dangerous trend of late to question the legitimacy of the twisted ideologies that underpin what is in effect a policy of national and racial suicide.

The terrible tragedy is that I cannot identify even one political party which would, if it gained power, succeed in turning our country around. The Tories, through all the years they were in power, betrayed us and our country; Labour would do the same. Certainly, Reform UK embraces some policies that I would be happy voting for, but so long as it champions high capitalism, that corruption of free enterprise, it is no white knight. As for the Greens, they are encumbered by so much weighty liberal-progressive baggage, they are a political party that no right thinking British voter could possibly consider supporting.

In "Robert Dewar's Blog" I share my thoughts on current affairs and other topics. Although I am located in the British Isles, my interests are global. I write about issues of the moment, and I post social, cultural, and economic commentary. I also post the occasional verse. Sometimes I write about a particular period of history which I find interesting. I may post some autobiographical content. I hope my readers find something here to interest them.

(This photograph is one of many I have taken near my home. It is of Castle Stalker).
